When are you NOT allowed to drive a motorized vehicle?

Being under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication significantly impairs your ability to operate a motorized vehicle safely. This impairment affects your coordination, reaction times, decision-making, and overall judgment, making it dangerous not only for yourself but also for other road users. Driving while impaired is considered a serious offense and is enforced rigorously in all jurisdictions, including Aruba.

In contrast, needing fuel, feeling tired, or driving in the rain are conditions that, while they may present challenges or require additional caution, do not legally prohibit you from driving. For instance, running out of fuel would necessitate stopping to refuel, but it wouldn’t be illegal to drive the vehicle before it runs out. Feeling tired is certainly not advisable for safe driving, but it does not legally prevent you from doing so. Similarly, driving in the rain requires careful attention and adjustment of driving behavior but does not constitute a lawful restriction. Thus, being under the influence remains the only condition in this scenario that legally forbids driving.
